Our Sessions Will Be…

Personalized

Just as an artist envisions a painting before putting brush to canvas, you have a vision of the type of life you want. Every artist needs tools--skills, a canvas, and paints--to bring their vision to life. Similarly, you possess unique talents, skills, and experiences that can shape your desired future. Sometimes, it can be challenging to know how to harness these personal resources effectively.

My role as your wellness coach is to assist you in tapping into your inherent strengths and abilities. Together, we will uncover and utilize the tools you already have to achieve your wellness goals. Through personalized sessions, I will guide you in drawing out your potential, helping you create a coherent and fulfilling life that aligns with your vision. The power to transform your life lies within you.

Targeted

Everyone has unique aspirations and challenges. In our coaching sessions, we'll start by having an open and honest conversation about what you want to achieve. We'll dig deep to uncover your "why", examining your values to propel you forward and identifying the obstacles that might be holding you back.

Once you have clarity, we'll work together to formulate a plan with clear, actionable goals. Just as an artist learns to paint, you'll discover which techniques work best for you and which don't, gradually integrating the future version of yourself into the present. Our partnership will be all about finding what resonates with you and making meaningful progress towards your dreams.

Integrative

When you start making actionable changes and taking steps to alter behaviors and habits, these changes begin to weave into the fabric of your life. As you progress, you'll notice that the areas you address and improve will naturally intersect with different dimension of your well-being--social, emotional, physical, and beyond.

For instance, enhancing your emotional health can positively impact your social interactions and physical well-being. Similarly, adopting healthier physical habits can boost your mental and emotional state. Through our coaching sessions, you'll learn to integrate these changes seamlessly into your daily life, creating a ripple effect that enhances various aspects of your well-being, ensuring the positive changes you make are sustainable, enriching, and holistic.

What is the typical timeframe for breaking old habits and forming new ones?

Research shows that it can vary widely, depending on the individual and specific behavior. On average, it takes about 66 days for a new behavior to become automatic. However, this can range from as little as 18 days to as long as 254 days.

Is the coaching industry regulated?

Unlike therapy, coaching is less regulated, and while many coaches pursue certifications to enhance their experience and the clients, it often does not require specific licenses.

What is the typical duration of a coaching session?

The session can vary in length depending on the needs of the client, but it typically lasts between 45-60 minutes.

What is the difference between Coaching and Therapy?

While coaching and therapy both aim to support individuals in their personal growth, they serve distinct purposes. Coaching focuses on the present and future, helping clients set and achieve specific goals through actionable plans. It emphasizes forward progress and is goal-driven. In contrast, therapy delves into past experiences to understand and resolve emotional and psychological issues affecting current behavior. Unlike therapists, coaches are not licensed to diagnose and treat mental health conditions.

Do wellness coaches provide medical advice?

Wellness coaches are not medical professionals and do not diagnose or prescribe treatments. Instead, they complement medical care by helping clients implement physician prescribed treatments and make sustainable lifestyle changes.

Is wellness coaching covered by health insurance?

That is the big question! The short answer is - potentially. Category III CPT codes have been approved by the AMA (American Medical Association). While these codes allow for data collection and are a major advancement towards full reimbursement, insurance payers generally only accept Category I claims. However, there are some exceptions:

  1. FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts), HSA (Health Savings Accounts), and HRA (Health Reimbursement Accounts) pre-tax accounts may be eligible for reimbursement if a client has a letter of medical necessity from their doctor or qualified provider.

  2. Certain insurance plans may reimburse with a prescription by a physician.

  3. In order to submit health coaching CPT codes, the coach must be certified by the NBHWC (National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching) or NCHEC (National Commission for Health Education Credentialing).
